With spring just around the corner we start thinking about the fresh food and warm atmospheres of Calgary’s local farmer’s markets. Here are a few of the best out there – find one near your home or venture to one a bit out of the way for delicious local treats and to support local family farms and small businesses.
501 77th Avenue SE
This indoor market features over 80 vendors who offer shoppers fresh local produce, art, meat, poultry, international food, organic goods, jewelry and more. You can find beautiful flowers, support local co-ops, talk to folks from a greenhouse, and sample a variety of foods and flavors. Calgary Farmer’s Market is open all year, Thursday through Sunday.
1235 25 Avenue SE
Crossroad’s market is Calgary’s largest year-round market, in operation since 1987. They are a full service market with fresh produce, meat, cheeses, bakeries, fish, and anything else that you would want to buy. In the spring you will see flowers, hanging baskets and great things for your yard. The market is open year round Friday – Sunday.
1320 5 Avenue NW
This community farmer’s market is a great example of good quality goods and food from local farms and artists. They are committed to 80% of their vendors offering local products. The market also has special events like dance competitions, live music, and more. The market is open on Wednesday throughout the summer. Winter’s markets are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, November through May.

If you are in Northwest Calgary, this is the market for you! Year-round and established in 1968, the Symon’s Valley Ranch Farmer’s Market is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They offer a variety of foods, meats, spices, pies and more. This is a great stop in the area to find all kinds of delicious food and gift items.
